About The Plan

Massachusetts General Laws states “A planning board established in any city or town under section 81A shall make a master plan of such city or town or such part or parts thereof as said board may deem advisable and from time to time may extend or perfect such plan.  Such plan shall be a statement, through text, maps, illustrations or other forms of communication that is designed to provide a basis for decision making regarding the long-term physical development of the municipality”.

In the summer of 2005, the Planning Board voted to begin the process of drafting a Master Plan pursuant to section 41-81D of the Massachusetts General Laws.  Since that time, the Planning Board has held numerous public hearings, conducted several surveys and has submitted many articles to Town Meeting which illustrate the concepts that the Planning Board believes the community will support.

Staff is in process of developing a draft Plan, but is still soliciting public input.  Although more public hearings will be taking place, we encourage you to post your suggestions or comments in the “Comment” section of this web-site.
